Catch renewals before the policy lapses.

Most policies lapse because someone forgot. The agent calls a couple of weeks before expiry with the date and the amount, and offers the renewal link. When the customer asks why the premium went up, it books an advisor instead of guessing.

  1. Agent

Hello Vikas, I'm Acme Insurance Services' AI assistant. Your car insurance policy ends on 28 October, and I'm calling about the renewal.

  2. Caller

Yes, but why does the premium look higher this time?

  3. Agent

This year's renewal premium is 8,400 rupees. I don't have the details of why it changed; our advisor can explain that.

  4. Caller

Okay. I do want to renew; send me the link and I'll look at it.

  5. Agent

Sure, the renewal link will come on WhatsApp. Would you also like to speak to an advisor about the premium?

  6. Caller

Yes, have them call on Saturday morning.

  7. Agent

An advisor call on Saturday morning, noted. If it's renewed before 28 October, the policy continues without a gap. Thank you, Vikas.

Setup

Two rounds before the date.

  1. Write the prompt in the sandbox around four facts: what’s expiring, when, the amount, and how the link reaches them. Tell it never to explain coverage or guess why a price changed.
  2. Let it check your system before each call, so anyone who has already renewed is skipped.
  3. Test it as a customer who renews at once, one who objects to the price and one who sold the vehicle.
  4. Upload the expiring list a few weeks ahead. Each call comes back with the intent, the objection and the message to send.
  5. Closer to expiry, start a second round from everyone still undecided or not reached.

If your WhatsApp templates are approved in your messaging tool, the agent can read the current list after each call. A newly approved message is then ready to use without editing the agent.

Cost

What one call costs.

One connected call, on the plan you choose. T1 is chosen; T3 and T5 are one press away.

A one-rupee coin dated 2026

On T1, one connected call

₹2.50

A 150-second call at ₹1 a minute.

A one-rupee coin dated 2026

On T3, one connected call

₹7.50

A 150-second call at ₹3 a minute.

A one-rupee coin dated 2026

On T5, one connected call

₹12.50

A 150-second call at ₹5 a minute.

₹1 a minute on our volume plan. A call with one question and an advisor booking runs about two and a half minutes, so ₹2.50. A quick “हाँ, link भेज दो” is far shorter. Compare it with the commission one lapse costs you.

Choose your plan.

Your price · T1

₹1 a minute¹

₹1,000 for 1,000 minutes

₹1,00,000 / month minimum, credited to your wallet; your usage counts towards it. Our phone line adds ₹0.30 and call insights ₹0.20 a minute, if you want them.

Your price · T3

₹3 a minute¹

₹3,000 for 1,000 minutes

₹50,000 / month minimum, credited to your wallet; your usage counts towards it. The phone line and call insights are in the rate.

Your price · T5

₹5 a minute¹

₹5,000 for 1,000 minutes

Pay as you go from your wallet. The phone line and call insights are in the rate.

The working
  • 150 s → 15 blocks of 10 s = 150 s billed
  • T1: 150 s × ₹1 ÷ 60 = ₹2.50
  • T3: 150 s × ₹3 ÷ 60 = ₹7.50
  • T5: 150 s × ₹5 ÷ 60 = ₹12.50

T5 and T3 include our phone line and call insights. On T1 you add them if you want them, and this call then comes to about ₹3.75.

T1's ₹1,00,000 a month covers about 40,000 of these calls. T3's ₹50,000 a month covers about 6,666 of these calls. The minimum goes into your wallet as credit.

You pay when someone picks up. Missed, busy and failed calls are free. A voicemail counts as a call.

In detail

What to know before you start.

Most lapses are just forgetting

The customer meant to renew. The reminder email went to the promotions tab, and the policy quietly ran out. A call two weeks before expiry reaches people email misses. When they already plan to renew, it’s a short call: here’s the date, here’s the amount, shall we send the link?

The ones who hesitate

“Premium ज़्यादा क्यों है?” “I’m comparing quotes.” “I sold the car.” The agent doesn’t argue with any of these. It notes the objection in the customer’s words, offers an advisor and books the call. Your advisors spend their day on people who need a conversation, and each of those calls starts with the question already known.

The example is motor insurance sold through a distributor. A gym membership, a software plan or a DTH pack runs the same call with different facts.

Advice stays with advisors

Explaining coverage, add-ons, claim history or why a premium moved is a conversation for trained staff, and in insurance it should stay with them. Anyone thinking of not renewing deserves a human call. So does anyone who mentions a claim or an accident. The agent can’t transfer calls, so it books the callback and passes the objection along.

One kind of call at a time

A reminder about a policy the customer holds is close to a service call under TRAI’s latest rules. Pitch an add-on on the same call and it becomes promotional. Your own sector regulator’s rules apply on top, and checking the list against DND is up to you, because we don’t do it.

Questions

Questions people ask before they start.

Can it explain what the policy covers?

Only in wording you've given it and approved. For coverage, claims or a premium change, it offers an advisor and notes the question, so the advisor knows it before dialling.

Can the customer pay during the call?

No. The agent never takes card or UPI details. After the call, your system sends the renewal link on WhatsApp.

What about someone who renewed yesterday?

The agent checks your system just before each call. If the policy is already renewed, nobody gets dialled and nothing is charged.

Can we call again closer to the expiry date?

Yes, as a second round. A number is called only once in a campaign, so pick the customers still undecided or not reached and start a new campaign from them.

Who pays ₹1 a minute, and who pays ₹5?

₹1 is our volume plan, for businesses spending at least ₹1,00,000 a month on calls, and that money goes into your wallet as credit. With no commitment at all, it's ₹5 a minute as you go, and there's ₹3 in between for ₹50,000 a month. An agency testing one month's expiring policies usually starts at ₹5. Both rates are low because the calls run on our own models and GPUs in India.
